About Rancho El Zancudo

Rancho El Zancudo is located approximately 45 miles south of Nuevo Laredo, in the Mexican state of Tamaulipas. Game-fenced and intensely managed, our 2,500 acres of prime brush country offer ideal habitat for the whitetail deer and the wildlife enthusiast alike.

In addition, our four pristine lakes provide ample fishing and swimming for those who want to relax or take a break from the hunt. But if you’ve had enough of the great outdoors for one day, you can unwind in our 12,000-square-foot ranch house, complete with air conditioning, TV, and internet access.

Game Management Program

The brush country of Rancho El Zancudo offers ideal habitat and plentiful forage for whitetail deer. In addition to the natural vegetation, our year-round feeding program supplements the growth and vigor of our deer. Our free-choice protein feeders, food plots, and oat fields provide an exceptional food source high in protein and fiber. And to minimize the effects of drought years on game populations, we installed a unique game watering system in 2005. After all, healthy food makes healthy deer.

Our breeding program is aimed primarily at developing a plentiful stock of trophy-quality whitetail deer, ideally rating 150-200 Boone & Crockett points. In fact, the ranch is currently offering a rare opportunity to hunt essentially virgin territory: The only deer harvested between 2006 and 2009 have been cull, management bucks, and does. All trophy-quality bucks were utilized as breeder bucks during that time. Now, those bucks are ripe for harvesting.
